Fall 2026 Move-In Day Schedule & Information

Drop 'n Go | Sunday, August 9 | 10 am - 5 pm

Drop 'n Go | Thursday, August 13 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Move-In & Stay | Thursday, August 20 | 8:30 am - 2 pm

Drop 'n Go will be an option for new and returning residents to move in some or all of their items prior to the official campus move-in day. John Neumaier residents do not need to participate in Drop 'n Go, as they can move in beginning August 1. Students must sign up in order to participate in Drop 'n Go by August 5.

New students should be back on campus and ready for the Dragon Days kick-off at 3:00pm on Thursday, August 20. The residence halls will open at 8:30am on Move-In Day and our staff will be excited to officially welcome students to campus!

• 2:15 pm - 2:45 pm Residence Hall Floor Meeting in your floor lounge
• 3:00 pm Dragon Days officially begins!

Before You Arrive

• Check out the amenities your assigned residence hall offers, items you may want to bring with you, items we ask that you leave at home, and other helpful information as you prepare for your arrival.
• Register for Drop 'n Go if participating.
• Holmquist Hall does not have elevators. Please plan and pack accordingly.
• We encourage students to bring their own cart if they have one.

When You Arrive on Thursday, August 20

• If you haven't taken and/or picked up your Dragon ID yet, please first go to the Library Help Desk to get your ID before checking in; the Help Desk is located on the north side of the library
• Go to the parking lot closest to your hall; if you have helpers, have them start unloading your items to the curb/sidewalk while you check in
• Go to your hall's desk to check in (and pick up your key if you did not participate in Drop 'n Go)
• Once items are removed from your vehicle, move it to the designated lots to allow for other residents to unload
• Check in with your RA and pick up your info folder
• Proceed to make your room your new home!

Spring 2025 Move-In Day

All New and Returning Residence Hall students can check in to your room beginning Friday, January 10, 2025. John Neumaier New Residents may begin to check in on Sunday, January 1, 2025.

New Residents

• New Residence Hall Residents can check-in between 4-9pm on Friday, January 10, 2025.
  • OR 1-6pm on Saturday, January 11
  • OR 2-9pm on Sunday, January 12
• Returning Residents can self check-in via QR code beginning at noon, Friday, January 10.
• New John Neumaier Apartment Residents can check-in between 6-8pm on Sunday, January 1, 2025.
  • If you do not yet have your Dragon ID, you will need to call the On-Duty RA (701.261.4928) to be let in the building and get your key.
• Use your Dragon ID to gain access to your building's exterior door.
  • If you have not taken your Dragon ID photo for your ID, please visit the IT Help Desk, located in the North Lobby entrance of the Library before the term starts.

• Head to your hall desk to pick up your key; the desk will also check you in so your Dragon ID can continue to work and so that you can receive mail.
• Proceed to your room and make it your new home!

Returning Residents

• Returning residents can come back to their Dragon home beginning at noon on Friday, January 10, 2025.
• Check back in at the hall desk or by scanning the QR code and checking yourself in via myHousing portal.
  • Failure to check back in at your hall desk will turn off your card access - please be sure to do it when you arrive!

Early Arrivals

• If you must arrive before your designated check-in date, you will need to - Note: there is a $15/night charge.

To be eligible for summer housing, all previous housing charges must be paid in full and your account must be free of any holds. Any MSUM student must be enrolled in at least one summer class or registered for Fall classes to live in summer housing.

Snarr Hall

Summer housing check-in will begin on Wednesday, May 21, 5-7pm at the Snarr Desk.

You will receive your keys for summer housing at the Snarr desk. If you cannot pick up your keys during the Desk Hours on May 21, email housing and we will have them put into your spring mailbox by 8:15pm on May 21.

Check out of your current room must be completed by Saturday, May 24, 10pm.

If you are not contracted for Fall 2025, you must check out of your room by Friday, August 1, 5pm.

If you are enrolled for fall semester AND you have a housing contract for fall, you may stay through the interim housing dates at the summer housing rate. At the beginning of August, you will be notified by Housing when you will move into your fall room assignment.

John Neumaier

Summer housing check-in begins June 1 at 5pm. If you need summer housing accommodations until you are able to check in to your apartment, you will need to apply to live in Snarr Hall for the interim. Please refer to the Summer Housing Rates for Snarr.

John Neumaier summer housing ends on July 31st. If you are not staying with us in the fall, you need to be checked out of your apartment by noon on this day.

• For those Currently Living in John Neumaier: To keep your same apartment for Summer, your Summer contract must be submitted by May 1.
• For those Living in John Neumaier for the upcoming fall: If you would like to live in a John Neumaier apartment for Summer (with an upcoming fall booking), your application/contract must be submitted by May 1. If your apartment is not available for Summer, you will be notified the week of May 1st.

Interim Housing Dates | August 2 – August 20

Interim housing is available only for those students who have a fall room assignment. All other students must be checked out by August 1, 5pm.

If you have special circumstances and need to move in early, submit the request by filling out the . Please be advised that submitting this form does not guarantee permission to arrive early into the residence halls and apartments. Fall Athletes: your coaches will submit your early arrival for you.

You will only be granted early arrival for employment, Athletics, group organizations or extensive travel circumstances. Your request may need approval from your supervisor, advisor, coach or representative. We will contact them for approval.

Housing & Residence Life will notify you if your request is approved or denied through your campus email address. Information that is not supplied or is incorrect can delay your request.

As the academic year comes to an end the residence halls are preparing to close. Below outlines dates, times, and procedures to help you complete your responsibilities for your move-out process for all MSUM locations. If you have questions, please ask a staff member in your hall or stop by the Housing Office in South Snarr 101.

Reminder - housing and dining contracts are for both fall AND spring semester. Please contact the Housing Office if you are graduating, student teaching, transferring, etc. after fall semester.

Sign up for your Anticipated Move-Out Date by May 1.

If you are requesting to check out late, you must apply by May 1. Please allow up to 48 hours for approval.
