Services & Activities
Cultural programming, academic support, and community resources available through the American Indian Center.
- Academic coaching & campus resource connections – support with navigating campus life and referrals to tutoring and writing support, and other academic services
- Cultural activities – beading, ribbon skirt making, speakers, powwow, pipe ceremony, and more
- Computer lab – computers and study space
- Entertainment area – large screen TV, DVD player, and a streaming device for accessing additional media.
- Language programs – Ojibwe and Dakota language learning opportunities
- Art & craft supplies – seed beads, leather, and similar materials for creative projects

Campus Initiatives & Community Events
Indian Education Advisory Council
Brings together MSUM students, staff, faculty, and American Indian community representatives to advocate for American Indian student success by advising on needed improvements to university systems, programs, services, and curriculum.
Native Student Success Network (NSSN) Training
Strengthens support networks for American Indian students by building an informed and educated community of faculty and staff committed to better understanding and supporting this student population.
An intercampus event jointly sponsored by MSUM, Concordia College, North Dakota State University, Minnesota State Community & Technical College, and North Dakota State College of Science, rotating annually among the college campuses to honor graduates, celebrate American Indian culture, and foster pride in the heritage as one of the region’s best鈥慳ttended cultural events.
Support & Opportunities
The George Soule Student Fund provides financial support to American Indian students for emergency situations or academic鈥憆elated expenses. Eligible undergraduate and graduate students may request up to $500 once per year. The fund is made possible by a generous donation from George Soule of the White Earth Nation.
Individualized Student Support
American Indian Center staff provide culturally responsive support for students throughout their academic experience. Whether students need help connecting with resources, navigating campus systems, or finding a sense of belonging, the Center offers individualized assistance and advocacy.

- Minnesota Indian Teacher Training Program (MITTP) - Supports American Indian students pursuing careers in education.
- American Indian Scholars Program - Provides scholarship funding for eligible undergraduate students.
